i heart TopShop Unique Autumn/Winter 2010-11 London
VOGUE Show Report:
WHO’S afraid of the big bad wolf? Not Unique’s ready-for-anything Girl Guides, who today came down the wood chipped runway in a quick fire succession of wild and woolly, wearable creations.
Last season’s surfer badges were replaced by Brownie merit badges and the whole collection was a wonderfully feral re-jig of country classics. Think: a palette of khaki, brown, uniform blue and cream, duffel coats, shearling jackets, sheepskin rucksacks and handbags with binoculars and torches as charms, riding boots, thigh-high cable-knit socks, an oilskin jacket with the sheepskin lining on the outside – all worn with dragged-through-a-bush-backwards tangled hair and topped with Emma Cook critter-head hats and antlers.
Striped pyjama suits were crumpled, as though just pulled from a camp pack, suits came with harnesses worn over them and skirts had utilitarian suspenders attached, boots had detachable ankle covers, belts had a uniform feel with pouches for fishing flies and prints featured wolves and mushrooms.
It all made us want to pick up our compass and head into the great outdoors.
